About Ian Wade
Mauritius, East Africa.
Thank you for taking time to visit my photography website. I am landscape, wildlife & wedding photographer based in Somerset in the UK. My passion in life is photography, I spend every spare minute taking photos and trying to improve my photography. Each project I tackle from weddings to travel photography I give 100%. I want you the customer to feel you have been given the best possible service and product available. My end goal is to produce beautiful photography which makes will change people’s emotions and tell a story.
The awesome power of the waterfall Dettifoss in Iceland.
Landscape photography has always been a huge passion of mine and it’s what got me interested in taking photos. I enjoy both day and night photography as they are both equally challenging and produce very different looking images.
Early mornings and dusk are my favoured times to take images as at this time the light is at its most beautiful and can transform a landscape. I believe that beautiful light is the key to any great picture. I want a natural feel to my landscapes and am not a huge fan of HDMR photography. Bristol is a beautiful city with many stunning landmarks and landscapes, I can often be seen leading workshops in and around Bristol in landscape photography. One of my favourite places in the world is the Clifton Suspension Bridge. No matter how many times I visit this stunning Bridge I always come away with different looking pictures.
Wildlife & Conservation Photography

My Wildlife photography comes from a love of animals and the environment they live in whether it’s in Bristol or international destinations; I use my photography as a tool showing others the beauty of the natural world. What draws me to wildlife photography is the challenge. Each subject tackled will present you with a new challenge so it's incredibly rewarding when you capture that special picture.
I have been lucky enough to awards in national and international wildlife photography Awards from competitions such as:
- Marwell Wildlife Photographer of the year 2011
- BWPA British Wildlife Photography Awards 2012
- Marwell Wildlife Photographer of the year 2012
- Mammal Photographer of the Year Competition 2013
- BWPA British Wildlife Photography Awards 2014
- BWPA British Wildlife Photography Awards 2014
- Marwell Wildlife Photographer of the year 2014
The subject I most like to photograph is the cunning urban fox in bristol and monkeys from all over South East Asia.
Travel & Environmental Photography
Varasani at night during the Nightly puja, its amazing sureal place .
I love travel photography and the feeling you get when you step foot different country with my camera equipment and a map. Every country is different and the challenge of trying to capture these countries with your camera is hugely enjoyable. I have been lucky enough to travel 30 countries and each time I go I experience completely different trip. My favourite area of the world to visit is South East Asia. The landscape, people and wildlife are magical. I also try and tackle environmental issues on my trips and in 2015 received a highly commended award in Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year 2015.
- Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year 2015
Being able to photograph the underwater world is a huge thrill for me.
Photographing salt or fresh water a huge challenge as both have to be approached differently.
It's one of the hardest subjects I have tackled in photography and that’s what I think I enjoy it so much. There are so many factors, which go into producing high-quality images.
I have been lucky enough win some awards in national and international underwater photography competitions such as:
- Underwater Photographer of the year 2017 - 3rd place in British Waters Compact Category
- Underwater Photographer of the year 2017 – Highly Commended in British Waters Compact Category
- British Wildlife Photographer of the year 2015 – Highly Commended in Animals in their environment
